12/11/2025 Update
Hey there! Hope late fall is treating everyone well. During the late fall/winter months, I am taking a break from regularly scheduled meet-ups. I am looking at creating a subscription button on my site that will allow me to contact folks when there are updates to my meetups calendar. Stay tuned in early 2026!
Please Note: if viewing on a mobile device, turn phone to landscape or click the arrow in the upper right hand corner of the calendar. This will allow you to more easily click the events to view details.
Basics:
These are super casual meetups, open to all levels of birding knowledge. Regarding my knowledge of birding and environmental studies: think breadth, some depth :)
At this time, no need to RSVP. We will begin promptly with a quick introduction, and will depart from the specified location 5 minutes after event start time.
We will head out rain or shine, unless there is hazardous or severe weather (thunderstorms, flooding, extreme hot or cold). A post will be made on the main website if an event is cancelled, so make sure to check the website before heading out.
Plan to be out for about a 1-1.5 hours. Most walks will be 1-2 miles.
Bring binoculars, cameras, or anything that allows you to see distance.
These are recommendations, so prep to your level of needs and desire:
Check the weather forecast to determine outerwear. Wear comfortable shoes or boots. Spring usually brings a lot of rain, so wear footwear that you don't mind getting dirty.
Wear bug repellent and sunscreen.
Bring your own water bottle and snacks.
Additional things to keep in mind:
Kids are allowed with their adults, but note that not all locations may be suitable if utilizing a stroller.
Most locations do not have bathrooms. Plan accordingly.
Most locations do not have paved trails, so accessibilty for wheelchair users may be limited or inaccessible. A note will be made on the event calendar if a location is accessible.
If you have any questions, please email me at go@inthewoods.today
